Meet the Founder

Delicate Cactus is a nonprofit organization founded by Frances DeWindt, a dedicated leader with over 15 years of experience in Operational Excellence. Frances holds an A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies, a B.S. in Business Administration, and a Master’s in Management and Leadership. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), reflecting her commitment to lifelong learning and her mission to empower individuals of all ages.

Frances’s journey to founding Delicate Cactus is deeply rooted in her passion for leadership, education, and community service. As a transformative leader and life coach, she helps individuals navigate personal and professional challenges. Her coaching approach emphasizes empowerment, resilience, and goal-setting—principles that guide her work and inspire those she mentors.

Frances’s personal experiences and the challenges she has overcome have shaped her dedication to helping others turn setbacks into opportunities. This mindset fuels her commitment to guiding youth in developing entrepreneurial skills, including starting their own LLCs. As a devoted mother to biological, adoptive, and bonus children, Frances is passionate about equipping the next generation with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to succeed.

At the heart of Delicate Cactus is the mission to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to lead, protect, and thrive—guided by love, logic, and kindness. Delicate Cactus offers comprehensive training in CPR, AED, and first aid, equipping communities with the tools to respond effectively in emergencies and create safer, more compassionate environments.

The organization also fosters a unique youth entrepreneurship program that combines hands-on mentorship with peer support, helping young entrepreneurs build the confidence, leadership, and business acumen necessary to turn their ideas into reality. This program encourages participants to stand firm in their values while developing essential skills for success. In addition, Delicate Cactus champions the importance of skilled trades, offering resources and pathways for careers in welding, plumbing, and other vital trades—helping to diversify opportunities and cultivate well-rounded growth.
